Why video data are generally transmitted using UDP protocol?
- Mar 04, 2018 -

Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a connection-based protocol. Before sending and receiving data formally, it must establish a reliable connection with the other party. A TCP connection must go through three "conversations" before it can be established.

UDP (User Data Protocol, User Datagram Protocol) is the protocol corresponding to TCP. It is for non-connection protocol, it does not establish a connection with the other party, but directly to the data packet sent in the past.

From the above description we can see that TCP is a connection-oriented reliable protocol, and UDP is unreliable protocol for non-connection, the two compared to the transmission speed, UDP transmission speed higher than TCP, more in line with the network hd Video surveillance system for real-time data transmission requirements.
